FAQ
Where are you?
Sarah grew up in The Middle of Nowhere™, Ohio. We had a hobby farm where our family raised goats & grew most of our own vegetables. We also had the occasional chicken, turkey, or pig.
After graduating from a small high school you’ve never heard of, I went to The Ohio State University to major in music education. At the time, I dreamt of becoming a high school band director. I did graduate with that degree, but I entered the Kent State School of Library & Information Science directly after. I recieved my MLIS three semesters later, & started my career as a teen librarian within two weeks. It was a crazy time of transition, but I’m pretty settled in now.
I’m still in Ohio, but pretty far from where I grew up. We have plans to move soon(ish), with hopes of settling somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Someday, I’ll once again live in the country & grow my own vegetables.
April is also from Ohio, but escaped the snowbelt & currently resides in California.
Wait – you went to Ohio State? You must know _______!
No. I don’t – OSU is one of the largest universities in the nation, & I was a part of one of its smallest schools. I might know them if they were a fellow music major or in the athletic or marching band, but probably not. I was not a typical OSU student – I can count on one hand how many parties I attended, & I tended to stay within my tight circle of friends. Those five years were some of the best in my life though, & that’s saying a lot since I’m pretty happy with the life I’ve carved out for myself.
You need a master’s degree to be a librarian?
Yes. Being a librarian is a lot more than shelving books – in fact, most librarians don’t even do that! Librarians have often been called “the guardians of knowledge” because we not only can find what you’re looking for, but we also protect your right to gain said knowledge. Whatever you want to learn, we’ll give it to you without question or judgement unless it’s prohibited by law (I can’t give legal or tax advice, because I don’t know any!).
You seem pretty cool! Do you accept donations?
Thanks, & absolutely! Head on over to this page to add some change to the piggy bank!
